You can discuss the movies or trailers or headcanons here, but you can also use this as a writing post: talk about fic ideas you've had (whether they're based on kinkmeme prompts or not), brainstorm with others, bounce ideas off someone, or post snippets you've written to get some feedback. Or even just some cheerleading and support while you write. You can also use this post to find a beta.

Other DC Kinkmemes?

Anyone know of other active DC kinkmemes? I've got some Batman comic prompts I'd like to share, but don't know where to share them.

Sadly I do not know of any other kinkmemes that are being actively filled. I responded over in the Ask A Mod thread with links that I know to ones that have received prompts within the past two-three months. But because they're on livejournal, and don't have (or I can't find) flatviews to view if there have been any recent fills.

So no idea if those kinkmemes are basically abandoned or not. You may get some mileage sharing prompts on tumblr if they're superbat.

And since I'm intrigued, I'd kind of love it if you'd share them here too. <3

OP here. They're not really superbat though. They're more of gen, batfam prompts. The only superbat prompt I have is the one in which rumors of Bruce constantly carrying around kryptonite make it incredibly hard for Bruce to ask him on a date because Clark keeps avoiding him.

AYRT! Hey OP, I feel you on that. I mentioned superbat only because pairing prompts (even on tumblr) generally tend to get snapped up the quickest.

I think you can still find a pretty okay headcanon/prompt community around the batfamily on tumblr. The three tags that people generally traffic are: batfamily, batfam and batboys.

The thing is, it's just reaaaaally hard to find people to fill those prompts on tumblr. One, 'cause on tumblr you generally can't ASK people to fill your prompts, you just release them into the wild and hope for the best. Also because the main joy there is in sharing the headcanon.

It sucks that all of the dcu-oriented anon memes are basically dead. :/

OH ANON, YOU POSTED THAT PROMPT? I rushed over to the kinkmeme prompts to try to put it into my writing queue, but then I couldn't find it. Is it posted here on the kinkmeme? Did I just totally overlook it?

I'm writing/filling a lot of gen prompts on the kinkmeme, so my interest in your comicsverse prompts is still very much piqued! I'm very much a batfam fan. So when you do end up finding a home for those prompts, please drop us a link here, yeah? 8D

OP here! lol I've shared that prompt with so many people. I've posted them all on my tumblr underneath the batman aus tag (http://writingfish.tumblr.com/tagged/batman-aus), but tumblr unlike kinkmemes doesn't really go for a while lot of prompt discussions, which is what I like the best about the kinkmemes. :)

Another nonny swung the idea of either a) starting a new kinkmeme or b) sweet-talking dceu_mod into a separate prompt post for non-dceu iterations of dc. God I'd like that, a lot. There's just something that's more fun about kinkmemes, right?

You guys won't even have to sweet talk me, I'd be happy to put up a separate post for non-DCEU prompts, if there isn't really an active comics or DCAU kinkmeme out there (I wouldn't want to step on anyone's toes). Any preferences on what to call it? Just non-DCEU prompt post? ;)

A lot of the batfam tumblrs seem to be really hostile towards people who ship any members of the batfamily, which make them a not so fun place if you do ship them (or if you're just not into people calling other people disgusting for what they ship).

Oh yeah, good point. I forget that sometimes, as I exist in my own little happy bubble of shipping like all of the batfam kids with each other. xD

Ya know, coming out of the SPN fandom, where we literally had every single kind of problematic ship that you could reasonably ship, batfam ship drama just seems so... off point.

ayrt Yeah, I mostly ship any combination of Bruce/Dick/Jason, so every time I see "why do people ship Bruce with the Robins, that's disgusting, he's their father!!!", I'm really put off by that part of the fandom.

I guess I'm used to fandoms that skew older, and while they all had their own kinds of wank, this particular kind of teenage tumblr drama is still a bit confusing to me. ;) And I say that as someone who otherwise enjoys using tumblr.

Is there a tumblr kinkmeme? I've seen people reference one on AO3, but I'm tumblr illiterate and can't find it.

I'm also saddened by the lack of active DC memes. I wonder if there's enough interest for a separate meme? Or maybe just a separate post here, the way some TV show fandoms have a post for the show and one for RPF?

I've wondered that too! I haven't been able to tell, one way or another. Personally, I've collected random prompts off of the superbat tag. Searching for kinkmemes on tumblr usually just brings up people bemoaning the death of old dc-related ljs or kinkmemes that were only a few posts long.

I'd be TOTALLY THRILLED to have a separate post here for DCU/comicsverse/literally anything else DC related. Because I'm a huge fan of every iteration of DC comics. And because we already have a critical mass of prompters/fillers here. (And because it's very comfy here, it's true.)

I just find tumblr the worst for making any connections, unless you're talking about a really tinh fandom. It seems like you hve to be on it 24/7 to keep up with anything?!

I wouldn't mind starting up a separate meme if there was enough interest, but of course it would be much easier to keep things in one place, if the mod here was willing to do it. Should there be one post for everything non-DCEU, or should we break it up into comics and animated stuff? I assume there are separate kinkmemes for the various TV shows, so those should probably stay off this meme?

You can make connections through tumblr--but you're right, the dashboard is a terrible way to do it. I usually stay in touch by using the messaging/ask/reply features, and to trawl specific ship or fandom-related tags to see what my fandom friends are posting. Superbat's small enough that you can do that easily. It's kind of funny that tumblr's actually a lot easier to use once you've found a friends group than the other way around. xD

If the mod was willing to do it, I'd pitch the idea of one whole thread for everything non-DCEU for prompts, and perhaps ask if we could have a rule or guideline that when prompting for non-DCEU things, maaaaaybe prompters should try to be as flexible and open with what canons you're willing to accept. Because there's just SO MANY of them. (But obviously if there's a prompt that's about a very specific comic storyline, that's its own kettle of fish).

Once upon a time there were kinkmemes for the various shows, but again I don't know if any of them are active any more (e.g. Smallville, Lois & Clark, Gotham, Flash, Arrow, etc...). I personally have dipped my toes into all of those ponds...but I probably wouldn't want prompts that got as granularly specific as "something spinning off of this VERY SPECIFIC TV EPISODE OF A SHOW I WATCHED 10 YEARS AGO".

So, um, if we were working out the logistics of this thing (which again, only if the mod wanted to take this on! Or unless we wanted to create a supplemental kinkmeme to this one), I'd probably suggest having a tagging system for what kind of prompt it is, and keep it as general as possible. Like:

[DCU] (general dc comics universe)
[DCnU] (DC New52 universe)
[DCAU] (DC Animated universe, Timmverse)
[AF] (animated film universe, all of those lovely direct to video animated films DC releases)
[ATV] (animated TV: Young Justice, The Batman, Beware the Batman, etc.)
[LEGO] (okay I'm clearly running out of ideas here. xD)

And then, maybe just encourage prompters to stay within those guidelines, and let the prompter express a preference if they have one, but let the filler pick the subset of [thing] that they wanted to fill for?

This all depends on how open/flexible people are with other canons, and what canons we're actually interested in. As you mentioned, I'd be fine with leaving off other live-action TV/Movie universes in this kinkmeme (even though I love them all).

Okay, I am back from real life stuff to mod ALL THE THINGS. ;)

Like I said yesterday, I'm very happy to put up a non-DCEU prompt post. I don't think any canons should be excluded from that, if only because I personally don't feel like checking which shows or movies still have active kinkmemes or getting into arguments with people about why this canon is allowed but this other canon isn't. The kinkmeme is relatively small, so I don't think we'll have any problems with the non-DCEU post suddenly getting swamped with prompts from one specific canon. I might put a note into the prompt post that if a specific canon DOES still have an active kinkmeme (do the Nolan movies have one, for example?), it might be a better idea to prompt there than here.

I definitely like the suggestion of including the canon in the header, so for example:
[DCAU] Bruce/Clark, first time
[Gotham (TV)] Jim/Harvey, desk sex

For consistency's sake it would probably be best to have a list of all used abbreviations in the post itself. I can update it over time, since I'm not familiar or even aware of every single version of the DC verse out there. And if someone suddenly starts posting prompts for the Clooney movies, I'm sure we can figure out a fitting abbreviation then.

Welcome back mod!

I think a nonnie upthread had a good start on a list of tags. I suggest going with:

DCU - for comics in general. I'm not sure if we need specific tags for New 52 canon. With elements of preboot canon slowly being re-incorporated, I'm not sure if this would be necessary? It might be easier to stick with one comics tag and have people specify in the prompt if they're referring to a specific storyline/canon. Otherwise, we might end up with too many tags, if people start tagging for different one-shots, Elseworlds, etc.

DCAU - Timmverse animated series (BtAS, StAS, Justice League, JLU)

Nolan 'verse

Arkham

And I suppose separate tags for all the other shows, including animated ones, since they're all in different universes (Young Justice, Teen Titans, Arrow, Flash, Gotham, Supergirl, LoT, etc)

I agree that we probably don't need several tags for the comics. If someone has a prompt inspired by a specific 'verse or issue, they can always specify that in the actual comment.

Hooray for the non-DCEU prompt post, and that sounds like a good plan. If we find an active kinkmeme for a particular canon that's getting prompted a lot, we can always gently point that kind nonny elsewhere. I don't think ANY Batman or Superman thing currently has an active kinkmeme. At least not one receiving fills. I've been looking, and it's halfway impossible to tell, what with livejournal's incredibly shitty way of handling threading (no flat view / most recent posts, for example). Young Justice had a kinkmeme that was active for a while, but seemed to die a death sometime in 2013-2014. That was the most recent one I found.

I take your point about having all of the canons, so we don't have to have a big discussion if someone prompts for [x].

Some additional abbreviations that I recall seeing used for various canons:

[CWverse] - CW-verse
[SV] - Smallville
[Nolan] - Nolanverse
[SR] - Superman Returns
[YJ] - Young Justice
[JL: GaM] or just [GAM] - Justice League Gods and Monsters
[Beware] or [BtB] - Beware the Batman
[Batman (2004)] - The Batman

Those are all of the ones I can think of right now!

[DCU] - comics in general; if you're asking for a specific 'verse, storyline or issue, please specify in the comment
[DCAU] - Timmverse animated series (BtAS, StAS, Justice League, JLU)
[Nolan] - the Nolan movies
[Arkham] - the Arkham games
[name of show] - separate tags for the other shows, both animated and live action, e.g. [Gotham], [Teen Titans], [Smallville]
[name of movie] - separate tags for the other movies, e.g. [Superman Returns]

I think I prefer having the show/movie names written out (unless they're absurdly long) for the sake of clarity, if that's okay with everyone. I'm happy to update the list as necessary if specific issues come up.

Does that sound okay?

Original OP here! Wow, I did not expect this to wonderfully spiral the way it did. Can we get an [Any]/[Unspecified] tag? Like, sometimes I just want Damian Wayne carrying his father out of danger and I don't care what universe you set it in.
