This post is for everything that's not prompts, fills or comments on prompts/fills. You can discuss the movies or trailers or headcanons here, but you can also use this as a writing post: talk about fic ideas you've had (whether they're based on kinkmeme prompts or not), brainstorm with others, bounce ideas off someone, or post snippets you've written to get some feedback. Or even just some cheerleading and support while you write. You can also use this post to find a beta.

All of these things sound great! For totally selfish fill-providing reasons, I'd love if the exchange could be fic & art. You could have your exchangees state a preference in their sign-up (e.g. do you prefer to receive art or fic? answer: art, fic, no preference they both sound awesome), but tell them that there are no guarantees, because it's an exchange, and presents are cool no matter what. 8D

But if you decide to go fic-only, that's also a decision I could abide by.

1) For schedules, I'd suggest something like:

*announce the exchange
*open sign-ups a day or two later
*2 weeks of sign-ups (??)
*Nominations to also occur during this time? (Or do you see the nomination phase and the sign-up phase to be separate things that need their own dedicated time?)
*Depending on the size of the exchange, give yourself at least a few days to do the hand-matching, just to make sure everything's hunky dory. You may want someone to help or double-check the matches just to make sure they're all good.
*Give your exchangers at least a week to opt-out of the person they got in case, for some strange reason, they just cannot do what you assigned them. I have no idea how it happened, but at least in one fic exchange, I got assigned someone who only asked for things that I had said I absolutely could not do.
*Depending on the minimums for the exchange, AT LEAST a month to create a fill/gift seems reasonable to me, especially if you are also offering/allowing art. Art r hard.
*then the actual mechanics of the exchange happen, which will depend on where it's hosted. Tumblr? Ao3? Dreamwidth? Will everything be revealed all on the same day/at once? Or will there be reveals spread out over time, in some other exchanges?

I'd prefer to go fic and art, so let's hope that won't lead to awful complications. ;)

As for the schedule:
- I do want a separate nominations period, but since this is a mono-fandom exchange and there aren't that many possible characters/relationships, I'd like to keep the nominations period short, a week maximum
- about 10-14 days for signups
- I've hand-matched in the past and usually managed in two days (for an exchange that's larger than I expect this one to be); a co-mod to double check would be great, if anyone volunteers :) - and ideally, unless I mess up completely, there shouldn't be any issues of assigning people a recipient for whom they absolutely cannot write; if there are any issues (that weren't caused by an avoidable modly mess-up), I think that person would just have to drop out because I don't think re-doing the entire assignments because one person isn't happy with what they got is feasible or fair to the other participants
- I'd say 6-8 weeks for writing/drawing

I'm used to doing exchanges super old school on LJ, but I think I'll modernise a little bit and have the exchange on AO3: people sign up there, get their assignments (even if I hand-match rather than let AO3 do the matching), people post their fic, reveals happen. There will be a DW comm for announcements, letters, pinch-hits. Since the exchange would be on AO3, reveals would happen on the same day, and there'd have to be at least a week between the deadline and reveals for last minute pinch-hits. If there aren't any last minute pinch-hits, I can always reveal the collection earlier (after warning everyone ahead of time, of course ;)).

I didn't realize AO3 had a system for signing up for challenges! That's pretty neat. I'll have to dust off my account then!

A lot of exchanges are run on AO3 these days, anon, so dusting off the account is worth it. It's pretty neat, even though it has a lot of bugs.
