Spawning? I mean, sex as land animals know it did evolve because there was a need to keep sperm and eggs hydrated in a dry environment.

I thought I was making a joke, and that the OP might welcome a more unusual interpretation of the prompt based on their question. Instead, I got a reply that came across as rather kinkshaming and that got my back up. Sorry for that.

I didn't mean to come across as kink shamey. I was just confused because of the wording.
