Updating every other day is still generous and wonderful, no worries. <333 I sure as hell don't manage that. Also, wrt the world-weariness, I mostly mentioned that in my original prompt because I do love older Bruce a lot and didn't want to get only Bruce's charming playboy side, but also a bit of his bitterness and grumpiness, but you've been delivering on all Bruce fronts from the start. You've really got nothing to worry about, I am the happiest OP.

I really adore that whole first bit about Clark settling in, how things get easier, but are still not easy for him, things just aren't quite right. And Bruce actually ends up being something good in all of this.

But Bruce is—Bruce is cynical, bitingly so, in ways that make Clark feel almost defensive. He delivers the lines with a smile, but that doesn't make them any less bitter: "That's the way it works, Clark." "That's how business is done, Clark." "That's all that kept you off a lab table, Clark." He doesn't seem to care how it sounds, how it will make Clark feel. He doesn't seem to care about much of anything.
Seriously, you are so delivering on the world-weariness. <3 And I love how Clark still sees through it because despite everything, Bruce is helping him. He must care at least a little bit. I love their little argumements, too.

And it's easier with Bruce because he's a stranger—there's nothing about him Clark is supposed to know already.
Awwww. So true. I really love how Bruce is the easiest person to be around for Clark. And then this here: You're right, what's happened to you isn't the kind of thing anyone can fix. Like maybe Clark will keep on being kind of messed up about this for a while, and maybe that's okay.
Because aaaaaaaaaah, of course Bruce would understand. And go far easier on Clark than he'd ever go on himself, of course.

And MY HEART, Clark actually talking to Bruce about how he feels because he doesn't really care enough what Bruce will think of him, eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeh. You are too good to us.

Bruce is staring at him. For a long moment, his face is so utterly altered he might as well be a different person: he looks sad and resigned and sorry, and also a little like he wants to say he understands. Which is—Bruce has never seemed to care much about understanding anyone other than himself.
I love how Clark is getting a glimpse at the real Bruce and doesn't even know it. AND THEN BRUCE IS GOING TO TAKE HIM TO A PARTY, I AM SO EXCITED, IS THERE GOING TO BE SUIT PORN???? :DDDDDDDDDDDDDD

Oh, thank you for the reassurance, OP - it's really more about me knowing how prone I am to schedule slip and wanting to be strict with myself about it than me assuming you all will hate me for being late. :) Because that would be silly when YOU ARE ALL SO NICE ♥ And I'm glad to hear Bruce isn't too far off what you were looking for! I'm trying to keep him grumpy, okay, but he keeps flirting with Clark instead /o\

More seriously: thank you so much for all of this! I know it's kind of a truism that there are some things that are just easier to tell strangers, but I've found that to be true at times for myself and really wanted to show why that would be the case for Clark in this instance. And I'm thrilled to think it worked! :D
