Discussion/Writing Post

This post is for everything that's not prompts, fills or comments on prompts/fills. You can discuss the movies or trailers or headcanons here, but you can also use this as a writing post: talk about fic ideas you've had (whether they're based on kinkmeme prompts or not), brainstorm with others, bounce ideas off someone, or post snippets you've written to get some feedback. Or even just some cheerleading and support while you write. You can also use this post to find a beta.

Basically: if it doesn't go on the prompt post, you can do it here.

Prompt post #1 is here. All non-DCEU prompts go here.

Just wondering if you've got them scanned already? It would be precious!

DA

Not the OP, but I have a decent canera if you'd like me to take pictures of the pages. I'm hesitant to scan it for fear of ruining the spine :/

I'm not the anon you replied to, but I'm fine with decent camera pix as long as the words are readable. That would be very much appreciated. Thank you!

Ok, give me a day or two and I should be able to upload them.

I ended up scanning it anyways because it's been too cloudy to take decent pictures. So far I have the Metropolis half done. You can view pages as a gallery here (choose the option to view as icons and list by name):
https://app.box.com/s/6awcghao96b78wd5v5dtudy8i864f2w9

Or download them in a zip here:

Some of the stuff in the margins got warped, but it's readable. I should be able to get the Gotham half done in a couple of days.

You're welcome! Sorry it's taking me so long to get the other half up, but work's been keeping me busy lately.

But on a side note, with NYCC coming up, the Lex/OS website has been updated (nothing spoilery, yet?) but it got me looking through some older online stuff from BvS, and noticed that Lex's interview with Wired (https://www.wired.com/brandlab/2015/12/lexical-analysis-lex-luthor-on-disrupting-the-vigilante-industrial-complex) mentions the Park Metropolis Downtown Hotel from the guidebook! Nice attention to detail! I also like that Wayne Enterprises has a much smaller budget compared to other similar companies. It makes sense considering how Gotham-focused Bruce is.

I know there's lots of negativity around viral marketing, but I liked BvS's approach to it, for the most part. It really gives me the world building that I was missing from the films so far.

That Wired article was pretty cool. Thanks for the link. Lots of great digs and references to other characters and to Suicide Squad, too!

The viral marketing they did for The Dark Knight was also amazing, with the Mike Engel talk show episodes and that "Entertainment Tonight"-ish special on Bruce Wayne with paparazzi footage and interviews and everything. Brilliant world-building right there. I love this shit. :P

Hey, no pressure. Post the rest of the guide when you can. Thanks so much!

Btw, anybody else notice in the Metropolis one, on the page with the Blaze Comics store interior, there's a series of pix hanging from the ceiling showing Clark changing into Superman. Lolz. The jig is up, Clark. They know!

Aurt

Haha yeah I noticed that Superman! I wonder what comic shops would be like in the DCEU, if they even have superhero comics before MoS. I guess there might be, considering that bb!Clark in MoS was playing with a red towel as a cape.

Probably pulp vigilante type heroes with no superpowers, like Zorro, the movie the Waynes saw before the shooting incident and which influenced young Bruce to become Batman. And on the theater marquee it said "Excalibur coming soon" or something to that effect. Did medieval knights wear red capes? I dunno.

And it's most likely just a clumsy photo choice for a Metropolis comic book store on the part of the editor, but there was also a Captain America comic in the same pic as Clark changing into Superman. Heh, maybe the DCEU reads Marvel Comics.

Sorry for the long wait! I thought I'd lost my book for the longest time, but it turns out I just forgot I flattened it under some textbooks -__-

I had to break up some pages too, because a few of my pages were printed flipped, but it's mostly legible! Here's the link to the album again with updated Gotham scans now: https://app.box.com/s/6awcghao96b78wd5v5dtudy8i864f2w9

Or download the Gotham zip here:
https://app.box.com/s/hvajsbvorwmccn7q1a7afpsvqaj26zg6

Some things of note: apparently Wayne Foundation hosts a half marathon, and a Zorro film fest, and there's also a Wayne Botanical Garden!

I also found a clean image of the bay maps from the author's website (http://geekosity.blogspot.ca/2016/04/out-now-time-out-shortlist-gotham-and.html):
http://imgur.com/a/tySwm

The author notes that the cities aren't as close as they're shown in the map, and that he used maps from No Man's Land for Gotham, and DCUO(?) for Metropolis. FYI, if anyone's looking for more maps, DCUO has a bunch for various DCU locations, although they obviously don't have restaurants and stuff listed.

Hope this helps!
