Clark comes back from the dead and he and Bruce make peace with each other and also start seeing each other romantically. One night Bruce is patrolling Gotham when Clark drops in to surprise him. The pair are enjoying each others company while still carrying out the patrol when Clark's sensitive hearing catches a domestic disturbance. Clark and Bruce head to the place and find none other that Joker and Harley in the middle of one of their horrifying rows. They witness Joker spewing vitriol and Harley's just taking it all.
When things take a violent turn, Clark has enough. He swoops down and stands between Joker and Harley, shielding her from the blow. Harley is stunned, while the Joker curses up a storm, nursing a sore hand. Clark glares at the Clown Prince and is soon joined by a reluctant Bruce. Together they verbally eviscerate Joker for treating a woman like Harley so poorly when she can in fact run circles around all of them.
Joker curses them all out and then makes his escape, leaving Harley behind. Harley is wary of both Superman and Batman, but she can't help but be touched that even after all she's done, they still stepped in like true gentlemen on her behalf. It feels nice to be respected for once.
She's still Harley Quinn though, she invites Bruce and Clark to one of her own secret hideouts so that she can thank them both... thoroughly. Crazy must be contagious and Clark takes Harley up on her offer and Bruce follows. Cue one hell of a night together.
