Re: FILL: "subterfuge" 1/? (probably 2 or 3), Bruce & Clark, less crappy omegaverse

Well, to be fair, there will be hints of potential Bruce/Clark, but I didn't want to get anyone's hopes up re: sweeping romance or sexual content! They're each starting to be aware that they could be attracted to the other, but nobody's going to do anything about it for a while yet. ...And I should probably save my justifications on shipping until the next part, which actually includes Bruce & Clark interacting, haha.

I'm also not a huge fan of how a/b/o fic is usually written. (Not judging anyone who's into it; different strokes for different folks, etc etc.) That hasn't stopped me from trying to write it in the past, though only ever anonymously -- I invariably wrote a/b/o fic where everyone struggled against gendered expectations and no one had sex, which was generally not what people wanted, so those fics got left unfinished. I think that I do have the drive to finish this one because the request was specifically for nontraditional (and more chill) a/b/o. I'm less worried about failing to satisfy readers, which is a weight off my mind.

In the past, a lot of the appeal of the trope for me (as a trans person) was a way to write about trans issues in a way that might be more palatable for a non-trans audience. I'm not totally sidestepping that here, but because of the nature of the prompt, it's less about the immense difficulty of being defined against your wishes by your specific reproductive systems, and more about the ideal agency of getting to decide whether it matters at all, and being able to control the conversation around your own gender and sexuality. Though even that isn't necessarily the focus of the fic.

Anyway. This is probably more information than is strictly necessary. I'm glad you're enjoying the fic so far, and I hope the rest lives up to your expectations!
