Re: FILL: as to which may be the true; Bruce/Clark, identity porn (9/?)

On the one hand: YES THEY BANG I CALLED IT

On the other hand: BRUCE NO HOW ARE YOU SUCH A BLOCKHEAD WHY ARE YOU THIS WAY NO

Bruce has to be the only person in the world who can convince himself that he can want Clark, that it even makes sense for him to want Clark, but it ~isn't possible~ for Clark to want him on his own merit. There definitely has to be another explanation - he's just lonely! He's confused! It's TRANSFERENCE!

But of course as much as Bruce Wayne is a character, there's a healthy bit of Bruce that peeks through - I imagine Bruce Wayne is kinda Bruce with all the foibles turned up to 11, what Bruce could be if he let himself be just another rich guy instead of relentlessly chasing improvement in his obsessive way. And I feel like those are the bits that Clark likes best, with the snark and the realness and he's a bit of a jerk but also so kind and so BRUCE on the inside.

NOT THAT BRUCE CAN TELL? because he thinks he is super good at compartmentalizing? and that there is NO WAY for Clark to fall for some fabricated character? but Clark does because Clark is strong and smart and surprisingly perceptive. But Bruce would never consider that. QUELLE SURPRISE.

also how do you convince yourself that you are having sex in this objective almost Sherlockian manner AND YET you're enjoying yourself so much and you know this is something you wanted even if you didn't want to want it because GOD FORBID, BUT THEN you're like NO I can't enjoy myself more than X amount where X is determined by methods only Bruce could ever decipher

For serious times though: one of the things I like about your Clark is that, for all Bruce is his usual micromanaging self and he thinks he has to be the ultimate shot-caller and a control freak and that no one else can consider all the angles as ~deeply~ as he can, your Clark just takes no shit from Bruce. Don't get me wrong, I love to see those two bump up against each other again and again and get angry until the tide just breaks and they're all glorious kinds of fucked-up, but your Clark largely does not take it as a personal slight, and seems to realize 'Hey, this guy is doing some pretty fucked-up shit, but that's probably because he's pretty fucked-up, so I'm just going to nod and smile but also do what I want'. And not like Clark is a bastion of good communication and transparency re: feelings either, but I really like how he ends up taking the high road (so to speak) in a lot of these situations because if they both wallowed in guilt and angst there would be almost no progress whatsoever. And I love that, that Clark is the one that has to be big and brave because to me that is what Superman, and Clark Kent, is all about.
