YAY HURT/COMFORT!!! :DD And oh god, Bruce, oh Bruce. I kind of love this because this is not what Batman usually does, you know? Like, usually he fights criminals, he doesn't run into traffic accidents to shield people with his body, but now he just does it unquestioningly because there's a civilian who needs to be protected, so that's what Bruce will do.
And awww, Clark who gets Bruce and the girl to the paramedics and then just ... can't do anything else, poor guy, having to wait for that long before he can see Bruce again. Eeeeeh, and Alfred, being concerned with breaches of security, of course, even though he must be worried sick himself. And this bit made me laugh: because sometimes he's just as much of a wiseass as Bruce. Well, Bruce must have got it from someone. ;) It's generally nice to see Alfred and Clark spending some time together, bonding.
And oh, Bruce, he's so perfect when he wakes up. Abrasive and apparently not happy to see Clark and immediately concerned with what happened and his suits and how to stop that sort of thing from happening again.
"if you think I am going to permit you to so much look at the workshop today, then you are still so thoroughly drugged that you cannot legally be allowed to operate heavy machinery." Alfreeeeeeed. :D I love that Bruce actually backs down. And the bit after that, I could just quote all of Alfred's dialogue, it's perfect, risking your recovery in a wide and inventive variety of idiotic ways, indeed.
He doesn't understand, Clark thinks—unlike Bruce, Clark's never needed to convince himself things are necessary before he does them anyway. My heart. Oh, Bruce. And then Clark telling him he's in love with him ... 'cos that's the narrative, right. And I can just hear Bruce's heart breaking a little when he hears that <nd then remembers that Clark doesn't mean it, of course not. Oh God. Why are you doing this to me? (Because you love me, I know. ;))
And then that last paragraph, MY HEART. God, tell me Bruce heard that, but he probably didn't, oh no. How am I supposed to wait for the next part? (I mean, don't mind my whining, you are absolutely spoiling us with your quick updates, but it's still so hard to wait, especially now towards the end because HOW WILL THEY FINALLY FIND TOGETHER???? I NEED TO KNOW, ANON.)
